Dean dumped his luggage beside him and stared up at the large cruise ship currently docked at the pier. They could not afford, even with a fake credit card, one of the most expensive ships, but they had gotten a pair of cabins. Dean figured Sam should have his privacy, especially since Dean seldom slept much anymore. And who knows what they ( Read more... )

Sam looked up, taking in as much as he could. "Not a bad ship." He looked back down at Dean with an innocent, bland expression.

Dean grinned, though the emotion never reached his eyes. Since the ugly night with Taryn, he felt stretched and worn thin around the edges. "Separate rooms for a whole four days. What will you do without me to keep you safe from the dark?"

The look on Dean's face didn't escape Sam, but he didn't say anything about it. "I'll probably actually get some sleep without listening to your snoring." He was hoping some light would reach Dean's eyes.

"I do not snore," Dean grumbled, though he wondered if that were true. Their father sounded like a bass horn sometimes.

Dean gave the lovely woman approaching them a quick once-over, thinking, //Go, Sammy!// He quickly cleared all traces of the leer off his expression as she neared, making his face polite and friendly.

"Yeah, that's me," Dean said, stepping forward to shake her hand. "It's great to meet you. Sorry it has to be under these circumstances, but I'm sure we can help you." He let go and smiled again, before picking up his luggage and deferring to Sam.

She shook his hand, making sure to smile. At least this gave her something else other than that boat to think about for a while. Even if it was only a short while.

"At least the circumstances could make for an interesting story." Yeah, great response. "I appreciate what you're doing. Consider a beer, or several, on me. Or a fat wad of cash."

"Nah, it's what we do. And it's a pleasure to help out a friend of Sammy's." He considered for a second. "Well, maybe a couple of beers. Ever been on a cruise ship before?"

"I'm sure it is," she said and sort of smirked at Sam. Then changing to a smile, she nodded. "We'll call it even then. It'll give me a good excuse to have a couple myself, anyway." Again she looked up at the ship. "No. Never been on a cruise ship before. I don't think the sailor look would really suit me."
