It...it...IT'S ALIVEEEEEEEEEE

Hey y'all.

Holy crap, it's been what, a year since I last updated? Sorry folks, it wasn't an alien abduction, and no, I didn't win the lottery or something.

What happened to me was SCHOOL.

Yes, in caps. My Industry-Based Project (also known as Final Year Project to most) consumed most of my time and therefore I was in school day in day out even though it was technically the holidays.

The irony was that it was supposed to be a five man(or woman. I don't judge manz.) team; The Director, the Producer, the Editor, Camerawoman, Sound guy. I was the Producer.

HOWEVER (insert epic music here), the camerawoman messed up 90% of the shots and we didn't get to see the shots as she reassured us over and over again that the shots were fine,no blurriness, yada yada. On set, she was always rushing the shots, while peppering the already tight tension with "Wah Lao guys, hurry up, I need to catch the last bus home." , "I'm tired.", "I'm hungry". Yeah. Imagine how the actors and the rest of us felt at that time.

And when we finally got the footage, lo and behold, all the footage were either yellow (as in lighting-wise), or blurry/out of focus, shaky, or just plain unusable.

It was HELLLLLLL. The Editor nearly commited suicide after seeing all the footage. I nearly joined her soon after I heard the news. Upon hearing the news, the camerawoman decided to conveniently fuck off from the project as well, thinking that she can get away scot-free with it.

SO, the Editor had to learn animation and thus became the Animator as well. She re-created like 70% of the scenes in less than two weeks (May God bless your soul, Ray. ) in Animation.

That was just one of so many problems.

The Sound guy (whom I'll refer affectionately to as K from now on,)also caused a hell lotta trouble in the group. This guy had serious priority issues. Look, I understand if you have to go to church, but really? On a shoot day? We only had a total of seven shoot days , and K only turned up for 4. He gave us some Year one to stand in for him (who sadly, recorded better sound than HE did.) for the other three. And holey cow, the excuses he gave were so...

"I have church youth camp."

"It's my parents Anniversary."

"It's my brothers birthday"

"MY MOM WANTS ME HOME FOR DINNER". (I kid you not on the last one. It's in caps cus I was so outraged at that time. Our shoot was in the evening on that day, and lasted till 11.30pm.)

And point being we tried to talk to him (oh Lord knows how much we tried,) but he just kept saying "my priorities are different from you guys."

WELL FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC WISE GUY. IS THAT IT?

AND ALSO, the little prick couldn't stand our reasoning with him, and got his mother to come and complain about, This "complaint" almost resulted in the dissolving of our group. Which would mean that all of us have to repeat a WHOLE semester because of him.

But of course HE wouldn't care, his family is rich enough to afford another semester for their little protected son. Which is more than what I can say for the rest of our group. Seriously, me and the Editor broke down that day and  cried our eyes out. We spent so much time and effort into this project and now because of this little momma's boy, we might need to see it all go down in flames.

And also because of this drama, we wasted THREE shooting days (we initially had ten days which we could comfortably shoot in. Because of HIM, we re-wrote the script, changed the mathefucking schedule for the next seven days just so we can shoot.). THREE.

The only guy in our group HAD to be the one causing the most drama.

And then during post production, he then realised that he have not labelled a SINGLE sound clip and therefore have to relabel every single one of them (not even the day/scene.) THAT TOOK HIM TWO DAYS.

He didn't even bother to sync the sound clips into the project;he put the clips into the computer and left it there. So our fatigued Director/Asst. Editor took all his clips, arranged them into the project, and started editing. That wasted more then 3 days.

And also, despite him being "in school", he was never with the team, nor doing whatever he's supposed to. He tried to do audio recording once. IT SUCKED SO MUCH that we were literally cringing while listening to it. And it took him so long to do it that we decided to do it by ourselves.

I took an hour to re-learn all the audio recording and arranged a recording with our talent. It took less than two hours to do all the recording that was needed. And the recording I did was clean and noise-free.

K took more than a day to do ONE recording.

I was doing my paperwork during post. production so I couldn't help much with the editing. And also sadly, with no thanks to K nor the Camerawoman, the paperwork portfolio was the only thing handed in on time.

Even now, the film isn't completely finished, there's still plenty of tweaking to be done, and some sound clips here and there needing to be fixed. So yeah, wish me luck you guys, and hopefully we can hang out soon.

Promise promise! ^^

Deranged and upset,
Jenthehen.
