That sounds so exciting, I hope it's an enjoyable process. I was chatting once with a Japanese friend in college and she was still annoyed that her mother chose her 'coming of age=graduation' (not sure which it would be as a teenager) kimono and she had never liked it, so despite it costing the price of a car, she'd never wear it again.

Haha, oh no! That's terrible!
Sounds like her coming of age ceremony... usually they would only rent one for her graduation, but the Seijinshiki is the big one that they would buy one for. What a shame!

Well, they can be. People usually just go in and take a look at the kimono that they have in stock, but I'm too tall and too voluptuous for the ones they have in stock, so they had to make mine special. But hey, now I can say I have a kimono that was made especially for me!
