[Movies] "But I wanted to love it!"

Are there any movies that you just wanted to love so bad but couldn't?

I wanted to love "Haunted Mansion" because that ride was so amazing. But I knew there were gonna be problems the minute Eddie Murphy was announced....

There's a movie called The Apple that I'd heard interesting things about: a bizarre, almost Ken Russellesque rock musical. Watching that movie was like watching a dead frog bake in the sun.

The Spirit. It had all of the actors there and should have been fantastic, but there was absolutely no plot.

Rebuild of Evangelion has so far been disappointing as hell. Instead of adding to the plot they've just made it into the moe-fest bullshit that turns people off of anime in general. On an anime note, Hellsing Ultimate. Remove all the class, add more gore and swearing.

I really wanted to like I Am Legend. But dear god, what they did with the ending. And the rubberface zombies. The whole thing was shockingly bad.

EXACTLY. I just shook my head and told my brother (who watched it with me), "Because we can't have the hero realize he's the asshole, can we?"

Try it's predecessors, Omega Man from the 70's or The Last Man On Earth, starring Vincent Price.

The Golden Compass.

I loved the book, so I should have known better than to have hopes for the movie, but... Nicole Kidman was actually on my dream castlist for Mrs Coulter since I saw her in Stepford Wives. She can definitely pull of the creepy cold "metallic" lady who in the scene before was so warm and charming.

But the movie was just... wrong. Lord Asriel looked lifesize. Bear armour was pretty and flimsy looking. Lyra was not enough of a pouty, half-spoiled-half-wild warrior-queen.

Oh, man! I was so excited when the movie came out and made the mistake of getting my hopes up. And I agree with you, totally. The whole movie was... off.

The new Chronicles of Narnia movies. I only saw the first, but that was plenty, thank you.
