So, the Florida state House of Representatives has done possibly the stupidest thing on the planet. They voted, along party lines, to require high school freshman to declare a major, just like college students. (Story) Though college students are often not required to declare majors in their freshman years...oops, I guess the legislature forgot

instead of helping students, this would seem to further cement them into one choice which they could end up hating in the long run, but would've already invested too much into to change. Considering that many college students end up changing their major this seems utterly retarded. So what if most kids don't know what they want to be when they grow up, its a major decision and it takes a lot of thought and a lot of research, you can't just expect some 14 year old to pick what they want to do for the rest of their life. Even in college they *make* you take a broad spectrum of classes because of this kinda shit
