Dentes Sequel

Oct 22, 2010 21:16

So... somebody e-mailed me saying that they'd like to write a sequel for Dentes, since they were dissatisfied with the ending. I've said before that I have a good idea of what I'd like to write for the sequel, but do not know when or if I'll write it. I don't like starting a project without the firm intention of finishing it ( Read more... )

LOL for some reason, that strikes me as hilarious. Dissatisfaction with the ending leading to someone wanting to write their own and 'fix' it? It's like fanfiction for fanfiction!

I think the question is whether or not you're okay with someone else writing the sequel to your story. It's like fanfiction of fanfiction, but once you say it's the sequel, then it becomes your story's "canon." If that makes sense?

I don't even know... fanfiction for fanfiction; the thought makes my brain die a little bit. Because I screw up canon and then they screw up my canon version of wrong... canon... I don't know. Do not like.

[hi, new to your journal :)]
i'd say no; it wouldn't have the same feel if someone else wrote it..

=] it's very nice to meet you too, thanks for friending me back.
i've read teeth, purple and most everything else you've written and really like your stories-i'd go into more detail, but i already feel like i'm rambling..so i'll just sum it up with: you're a great writer.

ummm, you know, when some people ask me if they can write sequels for my spanish fics I just reply with a go ahead and a smile, encouraging them.

But for some reason when you wrote it as an option here, my first reaction was NO! I really don't want to read a sequel of a story as good as this made by another author that claim that the end is not good for her/his taste. First of all because it was a great ending! and second of all because even if they wrote something completely different it wouldn't be the same without the way you could tell it on your writings...

So... it's a complex feeling seeing it both ways, as an author I would feel very moved for someone that think my fic is good enough to write about it, as a reader I don't like the idea at all!... luckily -for me- I'm not the author here so I can tell you sincerely: Don't, please!

XD --- can't help notice I didn't help you at all here, sorry.

No, you helped very much :) Do you only write fanfiction in Spanish?

Yep, gotta make the best of my own language cos it got a lot of words and expressions more complex than english and that reflect the situations a lot plenty ^^.

Lol, fanfic of fanfic. I've written that in my head before, but never on paper.

Um, honestly it could be a fun read, but it depends so much on the author. >.> I mean. Um. Are they... have they written a lot of stuff before?

You could maybe give them the go-ahead to write it, but make it clear that it wouldn't be considered the actual ending? I dunno. XD

I've... looked at their page. Um. Hmm. Let that speak for itself. I mean they're not bad but, I guess I'm picky?

LOL. Nothing wrong with telling them 'I'm flattered, but no thanks' then. :P

let this person write their version but dont make it 'the official sequel'. you can always pimp it as 'one true ending' if its good enough in quality after its finished.

Hm, that's an option. I feel like I'm blowing this out of proportion.
