It encourages stalker-type tendencies in me. I really like keeping up with my friends, but it also causes me to compulsively look to see if they're returning the favor, or worse, causes me to obssess over what people I don't get along with are doing or accomplishing.
It's like listening to hearsay and gossip. Myspace is the worst.. I have a page there, but I never use it, so the only reason to go there is to play stalker. So, so bad for me.
I need to learn to yell, "Who cares what they're doing this weekend?!"
Oh, the students is another matter entirely! Some of my ex-coworkers don't mind adding students and alumni, but I do, so it's tough because I can't add my friends because the kids will find me!
It doesn't help that many are friends with my younger brother, and they're around at the house a lot. Sometimes, it's so hard to keep that teacher-student relationship simple!
