I really apparently disappeared off LJ. I every now and then would surf and see people still around, thank goodness, but I sucked at posting anything

I hope you're feeling better? Meds suck. I really hope everything works out!
I've been really reclusive. I mean, I don't talk to anyone lately, and have been reading indulgent Time Travel Teen Wolf fanfics. Also? I'm still annoyed that anything beyond Season 11 of Criminal Minds ever happened. Alas, that one's about to drop off the air, so there's nothing to be done.
I just haven't really found anything to get into lately. Honestly, if there's a show I halfway get attached to it seems doomed for early cancellation (Firefly, Moonlight, SGA? Oh? Those were...decades ago, now? Geez).
Thank you, definitely feeling better than a week ago even!
I so know where you are coming from with Criminal Minds. So much disappointment. Sadly most shows that started out well they go off the rails and I can't stick with them. There is a real lack of good TV in the last decade.
Oh, my goodness! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were. I read your post and felt a great horror and concern for you and then was simultaneously uplifted by your bravery and humour. I am so very, very happy that you are recovering so well from this. Out of hospital after 2 days? Really? Hmmm. You clearly have a penchant for escaping the infirmary! ;) Do take care of yourself, and maybe you can write again
( ... )
Honestly, the shock effect is what kept me from posting anything earlier. So much better on this side to say 'hey, it happened, but I am good'. It was so awkward telling people 'hey, I have a brain tumor...' but it not being cancer, that is a huge relief, so everything from that point was just do what we gotta do for it. And I am not one to get dramatic about things so that was in my favor.
Picard, I have to actually catch up on that one. I saw the first episode then we went down for surgery and haven't picked it back up. Might do that this week.
I do know what you mean about real life vs. fanfiction. I guess the big benefit we have in fanfic is knowing that it all be fine which is what we tend to want right. Real life, we rarely get that guarantee.
It's lovely to hear from you too - I'm so plessed you are on the road to recovery and so happy for you that you got the best surgery - that does make a huge difference. I don't think I'd tell anyone other than close friends if I needed major surgery either. I'm not one for dramatic stuff and I agree it's best to let the shock settle, get over it all and then make a general announcement. You must be so relieved and thankful that everything went so well for you. I still can't believe you were only in hospital for 2 days!
I think you hit the nail on the head - in FF, Shep et al were ok, back to normal by the end of the stories (mostly!). In real life, with the sort of injuries we let loose on the characters, I'm not so sure they would bounce back! That is the joy of fiction xx
Sadly, I don't watch much TV anymore. My shows all let me down. Then I found new shows, was briefly fannish about them, then they let me down too (The Magicians and I had an ugly break-up and are no longer speaking).
I wish book fandoms were more popular so I could squee over a few series I've liked with someone other than my best friend.
Meanwhile, I mostly watch YouTube videos now on a wide variety of topics (cross stitch, hiking and camping, true crime, wildland firefighting, popular science, cats, etc.).
Here's hoping your recovery is the polar opposite of Sheppard's in most of your fic.
Omg, that is another one I know exactly what you mean. I was so peeved and the show died for me too. I don't get what it is with TV shows lately, even movies, so much disappointment. I have drifted to a lot of cooking documentaries, my guilty secret, love them.
You have to speak up about the book series. I have struggled to find good ones. My favorite book and tv series right now is the expanse. Love it, one of the few gold stars in books/tvs.
So glad your OK hon and so happy to have you back on LJ. I take meds everyday and it sucks. I hope all works out for you and you never have to worry about something like that again.
I'm still all SGA with a side of Shadowhunters these days but I will always be SGA fandom first. A lot of people have moved to DreamWidth, I do both right now. Others are cross posting to LJ from DW.
I'm not a well person and haven't been for a long while but I'm still plugging along.
Thank you! I really felt fortunate because I know there are many, many far worse health issues to have. You definitely have my sympathies for having to deal long term with health problems. Good for you though for continuing on despite it all!
I actually did watch some of Shadowhunters but never could get into it enough to watch most of them.
Shadowhunters was a really good show, they just picked a bad network to show it on. ABC/Disney was not the right place for them and while the author is trying to keep the books in YA it really is adult material. You have to keep watching, it grows on you. LOL
Hey! I'm so happy to hear from you, wish it was for better news. But I'm glad your surgery went well. SGA... those were the days. We had so much fun then, on LJ and aGateworld. I think I won't ever find it ever again. I still watch a lot of things, but I'm not as passionate as I was back then. The one I probably love the most is The 100. Then lots of tv shows on Netflix: Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel, Dark, The Rain... but it's not the same. Oh, and I'm having a Supernatural marathon at the moment! Hope you'll feel better soon *hugs*
100 was another one that killed me, ugh. My fav was killed off in season 2 and my bitterness was epic.
I have not heard of La Casa de Papel but I have heard of the others, just didn't try them out, well other than Stranger Things. Family has watched that one!
I have to agree about SGA - those were the days and they don't seem like they will ever come again. We had so much fun!

So, I guess I'm a misanthropic curmudgeon. Crud.
Please feel better ::hugs::
