Jealous! I keep wanting to go to the beach but Chris has this aversion to sun, sand, and water. I say "beach" and he starts hissing at me.

Have you tried govlisted.com? Foreclosures and repos. There's a lot of crappy houses but I've found quite a few nice houses through there and a few drool-worthy ones... Now if only I had the $$ to buy one.
