Wow, I think we might be pre-braces twins. Pre braces I sported a lovely gummy smile and no chin. Currently more than a year into braces (and extration of lower 4's) I (still) sport a gummy chin and now a walnut chin.
I can't wait to be post-op (june-july)! You look amazing by the way. Did you have upper/lower/genio? That's what I'll be looking at..
Be completely honest - when did the swelling go down completely? This is my worst fear - looking like a chipmunk for a long time!
PS I found you under "jaw surgery" interests if you were curious!
Lisp huh? Man, it seems it's going to be a hell of a recovery. My ortho/surgeon keeps saying the recovery's only a week long and 2 at most. But others tell me otherwise... =/
One week? Maybe two?kogia_simaMarch 27 2006, 10:52:49 UTC
I've heard a lot of different things about jaw surgery including the outdated wiring of the jaw after surgery, if your surgeon is telling you one week, maybe you need to get a second opinion, this is your face we're talking about, you don't want to put your trust in some one who is outright lying or not telling you exactly how difficult this surgery is, just to get your money. I would have a good long talk to him about what to expect and if he doesn't say
( ... )
those are wonderful photos, and i think you look so cute with your new face! i've got the reverse condition, where my upper jaw is underdeveloped - they're going to pull it forward and push my lower jaw back a bit. thanks for advice about how long recovery can take, too - it's good to hear as many different experiences as possible, and since i'm having both jaws done, i'm preparing myself for a lengthy and slow recovery process - but at the same time, i believe in the power of the mind, and plan to do a lot of meditation and positive thinking to help mybody along.
