Is the kingdom of heaven like the man who sleeps or like the field... With the implication that God slept while tares were spread in His kingdom?

...I did read your post and I'm pretty sure of the answer, I just wanted to double check because the quote, itself (in English) seems to indicate that the kingdom was the man and not the field.

It does, and that threw me a bit too-but I'm gathering that the sense of 'kingdom' (and βασιλεία) is that middle sense of status regis that can refer to either or both of the reign of a king (thus 'the man') or the place over which he reigns (thus 'the field').

Interestingly, it doesn't say the man slept, just that this happened 'while men slept', which half could be read as a figure of speech for 'night'-though another translation has it as 'while his men slept', and the Greek says it of τους ανθρωπους 'the men'.
