My faves released their singles last week "MINT" by Namie Amuro and "I Seek/Daylight" by Arashi.
I just returned to the fandom at the start of this year and "Fukkatsu Love" was a high standard that was set (and the ultimate rope that pulled me back). It was really perfect. The song, the PV (even though it was kinda dark and desaturated)... Of course, I had high expectations about everything.
And then came Ohno's drama. I wasn't really feeling Jun's because I'm not into lawyer stuff (but a friend of mine said that it's more of a detective-like story than a boring lawyer story). The plot of Sekamuzu was so perfect. I kinda felt like, "Yeah, this is awesome." I might be wrong, I don't know.
Anyway, what I'm going to talk about is PV. Yes, PV.
I feel bad about myself that I actually don't like the PVs for I Seek and Daylight. I can't even watch Daylight in whole. "I Seek", I was wondering what happened. It's underwhelming. They're trying to be creative but it was really underwhelming. It's such a disappointment for me. I know a lot of people find it cute. Hell, I think Aiba's baguette-mic is cute, but then what? What happened?
I kinda remember that commentor talking about how Arashi PVs are all green screen and apocalyptic studio. That's why the way they created "Ai wo Sakebe" and "Fukkatsu Love" are actually great. They went out. They tried different things. I want Arashi to make a continuous shot PV (but that's just me). Or just get out in the open. Be one with the world!
"Mint", on the other hand... Well, Namie's PVs were usually the same "I'll dance here and there". It's also an apocalyptic studio. But the setting for "Mint" is actually great! They hired a lot of dancers. They all look alike. Namie looks awesome. The dance is nice. The lighting goes from dark to creepy. The song goes from light to creepy too. It's a theme song for a creepy-wife drama, what do you expect?
I've been watching "Mint" repeatedly. There's something about it that attracts me. And trust me, I don't watch Namie PVs all the time because I find some of them boring as well.
"Mint" sounds like a creepy stalker song and because of that, I am actually creating a new story based from this song. Just you wait. Just so you wait.
