Kenneth and I saw it last night as well. I couldn't agree with you more about the CGI. That damned Lion was amazing and damned if I didn't cry when he died. They did an amazing job at making his eyes so FULL of expression and feeling. Major Props to the CGI guys.
I did think that the movie started off a bit slow, but then again, the book started slow as well. And Kenneth reminded me that since this was the first book in the series, they needed to tell the story of Narnia itself now so that we already know it for any sequels they may make.
And I agree that they did a wonderful casting job. Loved Lucy, HATED Edwin (wanted to slap him silly 2 minutes into the movie and never really lost that feeling...sniveling little shit!), Aslan made me think of sleeping with (read: sex) with an animal :) Yep, great casting all around and the scenery was just awesome!
