The cross roads were deserted when he arrived, the wind blowing coldly across them, making the thick dark branches of the old hanging tree creak. No one had been executed in almost a hundred years, but it was still called that, even after all this time.

Even didn't know what he was doing there. Yes, the note had been in Xehanort's handwriting, but he hadn't seen the other apprentice in almost a week, and things were becoming more and more chaotic back at the Garden. The blond sat down, and hid his face in his hands. He hated not knowing what was going on. It had been a mistake to do those experiments. And yet- He couldn't regret them. The huge Heartless tree shook the body from it's limb distastefully, like someone getting something sticky off their shoe. Plants began to sprout where the seed had fallen, while the dark skinned heartless knelt beside the body. There was still life in it- a trickle- a flicker there- in the chest where the heart lived.
The heartless of the apprentice known as Xehanort reached down and pressed his hand into Even's chest, pulling out his heart and holding it in his hand for a long moment.
“So... when you face the darkness... will you be strong? Or will you be weak?” A hand lashed out, clutching his gloved wrist and green eyes, snapped open. They were bloodshot and wild.
“I. Am. Not. Weak.” And his heart dissolved into the either and his body collapsed, becoming nothing.
The Heartless smiled.
“Perhaps. But that doesn't make you strong.” He dug the mandrake from it's earthy womb and smiled at it's ineffectual cries. Now... on to the others.

I didn't even click that asphyxiation would be a part of this kink till i read it. I think that's what did it for me here. And Even's awaking as Vexen. I loved that.
