More New 52 Kon art.
Firstly this, which I don't particularly like but put time into so darn it, I'm posting it. Trying to figure out how I draw comic characters again, bleh. Also: Kon's new costume is just. Stupid. It never looks right, and also all those lines are really confusing to keep track of. When I was trying to get reference from my comics I realized--the artists drawing him can't keep it straight, they all arrange them differently. If the costume is too complex for the artists to draw it consistently, then you have a problem.
And then these little face doodles/"studies," because I felt like I needed to get back to basics again. How do I do his face again? The pencil ones I was unhappy with, so for the two inked ones I finally started digging through MY old art, particularly the Superbuddies comic, to work from that. I'm somewhat happier with those, and feel a bit more prepared to do more art now.
In other news--the "Superman Unchained" comic had a variant cover with 90's Kon on the cover with his leather jacket and pointless belts and... and I just about cried. I had to buy it. But then at the counter I started ranting about how DC was mocking me, "do you remember this Kon? Why yes, DC, yes I DO, can I have him BACK please?" Fortunately they laughed; the girl said she'd never seen me so feisty as I was today ranting about pointless belts. And the guy--HE REMEMBERED THAT KON. I. Ugh.
Why, DC, why do you keep hurting me like this. I want to run away, but they're holding Kon hostage ;_;
