Me too! I mean, I'm exhausted all the time and often frustrated because I can't devote as much time to some pictures as I'd like to, but---but look at all this! It's like I'm 16 again back in Elfwood.
The exhaustion isn't great, but I think it also might be nice to sort of drive you forward? And also like... make you be satisfied with things a bit sooner than you would otherwise? Because nitpicking things forever isn't necessarily the best way to go.
You seem to do really well under like your own enforced rules though. So maybe like, apply that to the rest of the year as well? But obviously more balanced, to not wipe you out. But something like, at least two drawings per month?
Yeah, there is a balance between rushing things and nitpicking them forever, and this is forcing me to err on the OTHER side for once. (I have a joke I tell myself, that you never really FINISH a picture, you just give up on it.)
Ah but see, the magic of Lent is that it's only 6 weeks, so you feel like "oh it's not so bad, it's not forever, I can survive that for six weeks." Also, I follow my rules much better when I can plug them into some religious guilt for extra power.... People look at me weird when I tell them I love Lent, but I really do.
That said, I am very much hoping to cut this down to maybe two or three pictures a week after Lent and maintain that for the rest of the year, now that I have proven to myself I can. One a day forever might kill me, but three a week would be sustainable, I think. And also leave room for other, extra, multi-day projects when I want to go above and beyond.
Discipline with a self-imposed schedule will also be good if I ever get that web-comic going.
