My Spanish, which was never all that strong, has decayed into absolute trash. Lady at work was trying to ask me what flavor we were making at south end yesterday and it took me a really embarrassingly long amount of time to remember that b=v in Spanish, so "sabor" isn't something to do with swords (saber?) or tigers (sabor-tooth?) but a fairly ( Read more... ) -

Texts in old dead languages are always so weird. Like, I get that this is me not getting the subtle connotations of various synonyms, but. But what this basically says is "with his lying mouth he delivered the lying message and lyingly lied." I was trying to find more elegant ways of translating it, like use modern English synonyms like "false" ( Read more... ) -

My health insurance makes me want to scream, it won't let me log in and I don't know what's wrong with my ID numbers, and I know that it's all my fault because if I had kept better track of all the things they've sent me then maybe it would be easier to fix this, but. Ah, but I am going home tomorrow, so nothing can really be so bad. To dwell once more among my people, to shiver and shovel snow and make politely enthusiastic conversation about the weather, and eat food with lots of butter and cheese. For over a week! I am super psyched. -

I am mostly doing really well with my resolution to keep up with my email this year, and it helps that like 95% of my inbox is quasi-junk that I can just delete anyway. But.
