there's a reason why chinese stuff is cheaper, and i'm wondering if these recalls will trigger a backlash or if we're all too addicted to cheap consumer goods. i am interested to read the book by the woman who tried to live for a year without anything from china - i need to look it up, i only caught the tail end of the interview on npr the other day.
