When Man brought the movie home, I cried like a little girl. I haven't even thought about trying to read the book out loud...I'm sure I'll be a soggy mess.

I did that with The Giving Tree too. That one always makes me weepy.

I haven't seen the movie - I admire Dakota Fanning, but I was afraid of another movie violation of a nearly sacred childhood memory. As you can see, Charlotte's Web really means a lot to me! Was the movie true to the book?

It's been decades since I read it last...so I'm not sure. It seemed pretty true, but then, I totally understand the avoiding movies when you love the book thing. :)

Brigette was a bit alarmed by the line, "Slowly but surely, the family began to starve to death." (From Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, of course)

But that sort of thing is why none of my children have ever been read The Giving Tree.

I had forgotten that awful line!

I had been thinking about getting Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for him soon. Maybe it's not appropriate yet? What do you think - could Spud handle it?
