so, should I get a second opinion?

Before you read any further, I should tell you that I spent a big chunk of the day at the urgent care waiting to be seen for an abdominal pain/intestinal thingie. If you don't want to know any more, then move along, dear friends - nothing you want to see here. Way too much information follows the cut.

For the rest of you... )

Get a second opinion, but I would go to your family doc, since your family doc is the one that knows you, and you presumably trust. But that's me - you are the only one who can judge whether it's ER level pain or family doc level pain.

I would also hasten to add since you've been feeling ill for the past several weeks, please do not put this off.

i second that, your chances of a correct diagnosis are probably higher with your own doctor. he/she can schedule tests that will figure out what is going on, and hopefully it will be a better experience than hanging out in the ER, which would have to be my personal least preferred option.

hope you feel better soon, and let me know if li'l D's about to get a new brother or sister!

The thing is, I'd almost rather drop down dead than have to endure something like a colonoscopy, or a barium enema. Of course, if I have to, I'll do all of that, but I have serious issues with situations that make me feel violated.

Anyhow, I have an appointment for later this week with the family doctor, so I'll update if anything comes of it. Otherwise, let's all assume it was the prenatal vitamins, and pretend nothing was ever said about such an unseemly topic. :)
