My brother-in-law called me this afternoon and chatted for a while, telling me about how his life is going. His girlfriend is still behaving very inappropriately, and he is thinking of ending things with her. I tried to give him some encouragement, and mostly give him an ear to bend. you know he's an ass - but you shouldn't let him make you lose your temper. That doesn't mean you have to roll over, but if he thrives on drama, don't give him any. You told him your stance - that his son is an adult, and you had an adult conversation with him about the pros and cons of his decision. The rest of it, including his rude outburst, is his problem. I don't think you should let him speak to you like that again, but I don't think confronting him about it would do any good.
