Yikes...well, I'll grant you they're at least close, but at least that little girl still has a chance to grow up normal. Maybe when she gets a little older she'll tell daddy she doesn't want to do pageants anymore (we can hope). And at least Mr. Pageant dad makes her clothes and stuff.
What's so mind-boggling to me about the article I posted is the sheer amount of money that her folks spend on her. Half of their income goes to one single daughter. That's totally not how it should be! And I just hope her mom doesn't cave and get her a boob job. Hopefully no real doctor would do a boob job on an 11-year-old anyway...please oh please.
Uch. The sad part is that they all just seem so clueless. I mean I've known parents who indulge their kids just to get them to shut up, and who substitute consumer goods for affection and attention, but that doesn't really seem to be what these parents (the mom, anyway?) are about. She just sounds... well, clueless. Like she loves her daughter and has no idea that that actually involves setting limits if she wants to do what's best for her.
Bleh. Hopefully the kid, or the parents, or both will get a hard dose of reality before this girl becomes irrevocably insufferable.
I just wonder what they're going to do when they go bankrupt and can't keep her in diamonds and Coach bags anymore. Sell their younger daughter?
What bugs me (well, one of the things) is that this woman doesn't seem to get that being popular at school isn't all there is to strive for. I mean, I wouldn't want MY daughter to only have friends because she had cool stuff. I'd want her to be liked for her personality and brain and sense of humor!
And if my daughter dressed like that, she wouldn't leave the house. I don't want my elementary school child to be mistaken for an 18-year-old! Cripes!
