And with "horrifying" I don't mean the way you write because that really captured me (as always) and makes one really slip into the story but that also the problem - KJDNFJKLDNBDKLAGN !!!!
It's been a long time when I last felt so devastated after reading a fanfiction. Really when Arthur left and offended Alfred and Grace I had to stop reading for a while. I don't know if it was because I have familiar experiences or because I felt SO annoyed by Arthurs selfish behaviour (sorry I can't put it in other words) I just really couldn't help but to cry. I mean sure he has been through a lot and he felt betrayed but he was LEAVING the only two people who really loved him, broke his promise to always be there for Alfred and seriously - he's a grown man by now, if there's something to bother him why did he not simply speak up for it?! I know he's a proud bastard but he puts his feeling first and denies any other opinions on what was happening! I really hope he is getting grip in the next chapters...

Whew, you scared me for a moment and I was hesitant to read what you wrote after that title. Lol!
I'm really glad you enjoyed this story so much, but I wonder how come so many people feel what Arthur did was so selfish to garner more people to feel for Alfred than vice versa. Arthur was hurt, he had been lied to and treated with suspicion by the one man he trusted and loved, and treated with contempt by his own daughter for a very long time. Should he have stayed and really endured that? He had been emotionally abused (albeit, unintentionally, but that doesn't hide the fact he still had been). As to why he didn't speak up for it, well, he states it right there in the story; he was worried about ruining the status quo and messing everything up. He didn't know what was wrong, and somehow he thought it was his fault, when in reality, it should have been Alfred from the start. However, if Arthur hadn't been acting so distant, he might just have and- really, it takes two to tango, and Alfred is as much to blame for this mess as Arthur is.
