Being a Sentinel, Part III - Empathy / Aura-sight.

Jun 26, 2009 23:57

Long story short, a young adult author emailed me after hearing about my abilities through a priest friend of my mother's. World's a small place, don't we all know it. She had some questions because her main character has the same ability that I do, and was hoping to glean knowledge from me to make her main character more well-rounded.

It's sort of ( Read more... )

I found the aura chart to be especially insightful. About a year ago, we had a few psychics and palm readers visit my university as part of an event that we were having. One of the people at that particular booth had a device that supposedly measured a person's aura. When he measured mine, it came up mostly white. However, as time went on, I began to think that the color registered because of the temperature of my hands (which are cold most of the time due to a physical condition), similar to that of a mood ring. Anyways, what I'm getting to is this question: Does a person's body temperature or state of health affect your perception of his or her aura?

Thanks. That blasted chart took me about 4 hours to write up and an hour to translate into photoshop. I'm not so sure about how I feel about the aura-measuring device. I believe that a person's aura exists on a strictly spiritual level so it's not something that can really be seen or measured. That's just me though.

A person's state of health definitely affects my perception of them if it's affecting them emotionally, though body temperature does not.

I see. I agree that an aura is measured on a purely spiritual level, so I took the device reading with a grain of salt since that was the first time I'd ever seen it used before.

Now I'm curious. What colors have I been when you saw me?

Pana is special. In California, you were [most of the time] purple with white and gold sparklies, though you've shifted into blue and some green before. When you're drawing you're very purple. When you're RPing it's like you take on the colours of whoever you're playing. I think? I'm not sure how this works, I was kind of trying to not invade your privacy as you seem like a really private person. When you're unhappy or distressed you go pale, pale sick-kinda green-yellow with some red ( ... )

It's interesting. One of my teammates when I was active said I had an amber aura, and a few years ago someone used one of those devices and reported the same thing. I don't trust those devices worth a damn, though. It seems I've changed a lot in ten years.

I've never gotten amber off of you, actually.

Different people see different things - and yeah, those devices are kinda bunk.

I don't particularly care if you're angry.

This is what I live with every day, and if you don't believe it, that's fine. I just know what I know.

I agree with Gin here. First of all, I don't think you're correct about your brother, and I'm really the kind of person who thinks everybody drinks too much. Secondly, even if you are actually correct in your observation, it was definitely the wrong place to just lay it out there. Third, I find it rather unbelievable that an "empath" "doesn't care" when people are angry. I've read that it is supposed to make you ill or something.

She's 100% inn the right in this case, and you were definitely in the wrong on at *least* the two accounts I pointed out.

Good for you, Liz, for creating a convincing and logical counterargument ( ... )
