Wow, that's really lame that he fired you after you called and tried to plead with him about not wanting to go in after just having got off shift. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to make someone work two shifts in a row like that when they don't volunteer, especially because you can become a hazard at the work place with your low attention while sleep deprived!

And wow, obviously your step-mom forgets that you ARE an adult.
