I didn't know that bread starter could have a name, but I love that it does. I suppose organic matter that is 4 years old deserves to be named. Huzzah for Henry!
Naming one's sourdough starter is pretty common. You have to feed the thing on a regular schedule. And when you first get it going, you need to feed it every 24 hours. So it is like having a pet.
It was actually an aside in my cookbook, commenting that you may have the urge to name it and you should go ahead and do that. heh.
