Did I promise a rant?

There's no LJ cut here, because thats how you fucking want it. Here begins the truth as best as my opinion warrants being put down. First off, I have become a bit disenfranchised with a little gaming organization that some of you may be afflicted with. I say afflicted because nary to the day have I seen more of a drama infested, back stabbing, ( Read more... )

I'm going to be bluntly honest with you Keith, 'cause that's what I do :)

You love the Kolduns, and I can appreciate the way you envision them, but even with how you speak about them in this rant, it makes a strong argument that they should not be PCs. The amount that Kolduns can unbalance a game is not something that should be in the hands of the players and seen every day. Lords were banned from being PCs because of the amount they could unbalance things. Gen limits have been placed for balance purposes. It's just a game, but it's a game where everyone wants to have fun. Everyone has different definitions of fun, but we have to try and balance that in OWbN.

I don't know what to tell you. I think the kolduns are broken as PCs. A lot of people do. It's not personal.

I agree with everything lilytree said.

Also, since I'm possibly the one you're referring to on the protecting my players stance - it's my job an ST and CM to look out for the best interests of my players and their PCs. I made comments about the Necro packet, and I'll likely make comments about the next Assamite Sorcery and Thaum packets.

I have interests to look after - it's nothing personal. I like you as a person and I appreciate your enthusiasm and love of the genre - but since there's no regulation of PC Kolduns (they're only notify), I'm addressing the possible widespread use of Koldunism.

you should come to KONY and see how it works In game..

Hook a ride with keath and crew for Palla , you would have fun,see how good a event game can be, eat food, go home with more then you came with and see how Tzimcy and Kolduns are run right..

Hell make up a Lokie childer for the event and then you get the real gifts, that are going to be given out at the clan meeting..

But you guys aren't playing in just a sabbat game, or a single chronicle - the PCs interact potentially with all of owbn.

And I appreciate the invite and if I were ever to play Sabbat, I would play it at KONY, but I do not play Sabbat. I've been made unhappy too many times when attempting to play it, and I do not think all sabbat players/games are bad, it's just not the game I choose to play in.

Keith, people are stupid. You should come to where people are sane. Because we will take care of you and such.

When you come out to Palla Grande we will give you your gifts, eat some good Ivy Noodle and swing by Rictor's for some good whiskey. I will give you many hugs and a backrub, and it will be better.

For now, just withdraw the packet because right now all of the people on the lists have nothing better to do than complain about anything that doesn't make the Tremere more powerful than White Wolf ever intended (them and their half a million in-clan disciplines...). Maybe resubmit the proposal later when people have more important things on their minds than fussing about the magical land of makebelieve, but don't let it get to you like this.

When we see you in about a month we will make it all better.

Now you know where we were last year!

People should try playing, and playing with, and playing against Kolduns before actually knocking them and Koldunism, too powerful and whatnot.

They are supposed to be powerful, but so are Tremere.

I'll take my Tremere over Kolduns any day. I can always quell from astral.

As I always say, bring it on.

Not only that, but since every path of Thaumaturgy is an in-clan for them they effectively have several dozen in-clan disciplines that together are equal to or even more powerful than the collective in-clans of any other clan. Want to talk about crack? Its name is Clan Tremere.

That and the fact that in OWbN the Tremere have more OOC support from the system and its administrators than any other clan. so they sort of also have the power of Oneworldomancy too.

I will be using "Oneworldomancy" on council eventually.

Nah thing I am talking about is NOT org wide. I am talking about like, at game, as PCs, as NPCs, you name it. Sooooo not worried.

First, I hate thaum as much, or more than anyone. However, saying that thaum is overpowered and needs addressed isn't an excuse to overpower something else.

Also, only the primary path is in clan. The rest require ST/Coord approval and have out of clan costs.

In my opinion, the Setites have the best OOC support system, followed by the Assamites and Tremere, but I've never had a kodlun in my game so I've never needed the Tzim staff.

I feel I should note that I'm not really worked up about it. I just wanted to post something that was in the style of the columns in Transmetropolitan. While I do have a generally low opinion of things involving the OWBNCouncil-saurus, I prolly have more apathy than anything else lately.

Maybe some of the "nay-sayers" would be interested in doing some play-testing with us?

I'll be happy to do some mock combats with you guys. If it makes any difference, I hope you prove me wrong.
