1. Anyone who likes Guillermo del Toro (and who doesn't?), and who hasn't seen The Orphanage (or El Orfanato, rather, I suppose), should. Bob (and Sammy), I feel like this may mean you, since when I was talking to you about the movie Casi was telling me about you mentioned The Devil's Backbone. At any rate, the point is, it's excellent - its only ( Read more... )

Ooooo... I'll have to see about getting that movie, then. We just watched Hellboy last night, because we're going to Hellboy 2 tomorrow and someone hadn't seen the first one. God, I love his sense of visual style. It makes me happy. 8D

Oh, I agree. And frankly, of the three of his movies I've seen - Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Orphanage, Hellboy is (in my opinion) in a lot of ways the weakest, as much as I enjoyed it.

Bob has the movie. I told him he had to pick up the movie so we could watch it. Yeah subtitles do suck for me, but I can deal with it, as long people don't talk through the movie so I can understand.

PS.... HELLBOY IS AWESOME!

The Orphanage isn't a del Toro movie, he's just the producer ( ... )

I didn't realize he did do Blade 2. Or that The Orphanage wasn't his movie - it definitely had me fooled, what with some similarities to Pan's Labyrinth. Good movie either way, though.

As far as Hellboy goes, I'm well aware of these things - and I definitely do like the movie. It's just more of a standard Hollywood summer actiony comic book movie, which makes very good sense, all things considered. All I'm saying is that oranges, on balance, are a better fruit than apples in a lot of ways. ;)
