Well, hello from RiversideteresachamiecOctober 2 2007, 16:46:18 UTC
Jenn, I'm thoroughly enjoying your live journal entries. I'm so jealous of the travel experiences that you and Lissa are having in a part of the world that I never had the opportunity to travel in. As a child I used to be fascinated by my mother's stories of her travels through Europe, Asia, the Mideast and Africa as a displaced person/refugee during and after World War II. Her time in India was primarily spent in Mumbai(Bombay)which she was very disturbed by the excessive heat and poverty. Sounds like you're still going through a culture shock of sorts and are very blessed and fortunate to have the support of schoolmates. Life continues to move along pretty much as usual in Riverside and the only excitement here is the daily visits of our neighborhood coyote. He/she must be hungry because it's resorted to eating fruit off our trees and leaping over fences to get into our backyards. I'm hoping that our dogs don't fall prey to coyote. Take care and I look forward to your future postings. Teresa Chamiec
Hi Jenn! it sounds like you're having a good time in India. I'm glad you made it safely and were able to stick it to the cabby. That's so cool that you're going to be working with people from around the world on this trip!School is going fine for me, my improv class is awesome! Stay safe! lots of love, Dano

Hi honey! I loved your description of the taxi ride. I'm so proud of you for sticking to your principals! It probably taught the taxi drivers that americans appreciate customer service and honesty in business more than bullying! (See how your presence in India is affecting change already!) It didn't even occur to me that you would be living among so many other cultures - other than Indian. That's so cool to meet volunteers from all over. Give my love to Lissa. Love you...-Mom
We definitely miss you at the CDC. But glad your getting such a good experience over there! I love your taxi cab story! It would have been so annoying if that happened here. I'm sure you'll use a lot more Spanish and learn a lot more languages (at least a little bit). I expect those to be brought back here for a language 101 with me!
