Certified Hurricane Survivalist

1) Just because you bought a box full of Chef Boyardees does not make you a Hurricane Survivalist. You are not cooking with a stove gas, checking your flashlights for fresh batteries or managing your water supply.

2) Just because one warns people online of your possible disappearance from the 'net by inevitable power-out due to bad weather doesn't make you a Hurricane Survivalist. These people are apathetic of what will become of your absence and could care less about what could really be happening to the storm victim. This, also, is the differance between being a storm survivor and being a hurricane survivalist.

3) Just because you survive Tropical Storm Dean does not make you a hurricane survivalist. People survive the turbulent winds, the stormy-looking sky and the shady tree that gets struck by the lightning that comes down afterwards.

4) Your mother supporting and loving you during the bad weather and giving you a big head about how brave you are are doesnt qualify as Hurricane Survivalist approval. No matter how good one thinks one survives Hurricane Hugo in '89 while they're just a little kid an are given plenty of "OMG That must have been so $&@* scary!" comments, remember, Survivalists actualy don't care  and have probably finished up stocking up for the great 'Cane of 2032 already.

5) If one takes offense to how one manages to keep themselves in check during hurricane season in any way, one is most definatly NOT a Survivalist. Criticisim, as any Survivalist knows, is something that comes with the flood-covered territory. You are visualy showing yoursurvival skills FOR others attentions and eye-witness news. This is not optional or one would not BE a Survivalist. It is to be expected that there are others better then you in living through bad weather and are to be tololrerated so one can expand and grow from the experiences of their own findings and learnings. No great Survivalist ever forged on this earth ever did it alone.

6) If you did not go to school for Surviv...

Ok, you know what, I suck at this joke.

That said, I'm not actually joking about the possibility of me not being around this weekend or next week. While it's still too early to say, the type-2 tropical storm Dean will most likely be hitting my neck of the woods sometime this weekend (on my mom's 50 birthday no less, whee) and 9 times out of 10 whenever that happens, the power goes out. The most I'll be able to do is eyeball my FA journal via my cellphone to see if anyone posts anything to amuse me with (well, word-wise, this thing sucks for graphics). Doubtful I'll be able to respond by then.

So in short, if you want to chat with me via AIM or MSN and maybe bug me for oC before then, feel free to speak up, because I won't be able to do so for a while, most likely. I'll keep you guys informed should the situation change.

And oh yeah, I'll be doing some illegal, non-certified arting to keep me sane during that time as well, so maybe when I come back I'll share my artisticness with you all :D
