buy the japanese games! you should come to my house sometime and check out my brothers collection of nes and snes games. i think a little trading action would be sweet. also getting a mod chip so you can play the japanese games would be an easy fix to yoru inability to play them.
I know you would probably be pretty happy with most anything out of Japan, heck even I would. But think about how you are going to get these things back - in your carry-on baggage? Mailed home?
I think a little from each "category" would be good. A couple rare US titles, a few Japanese import games (probably more than the US games). A Famicom setup would be awesome, but I think that would be the largest "haul" from Japan, so you maybe will either go all the way on that, or only a little bit and diversify among the other things you can get.
I know I would face the same difficult decision...
I would buy daisenryaku perfect and give it to me... I mean... I would spread it out between rare american games (ones you couldn't get in America for even twice the price you pay in Japan) and those that never made it to america (SD3 is a good choice there) a Famicim would be nice, but between shipping/space it takes up in luggage and the cost of the system and all that I feel it could seriously impact your ability to bring back other forms of bacon to keep you occupied.
You should buy some games that you know Atlus & NIS America won't publish here, such as Persona 2: Innocent Sin or Sakura Taisen V. You can always count on some weirdo at gamefaqs to make guides for games like those, so you wouldn't be completely lost. ;)
