I hate the "attack the undecideds" mentality. I feel under attack here too. Brian and I have spent a lot of time discussing being a moderate, and though you may feel like you're the only one, he found research for me proving that actually, a lot of people classify themselves as moderate. The whole political mentality of "attack anyone who doesn't view things exactly the same as you" really bothers me and makes me want to throw in the towel. I've made my decision about who I'm voting for, even though I don't want to vote for either, and I'm certainly less than thrilled.

As for the debate on Tuesday... could Tom Brokaw have been anymore of a dick?

Don't take this as an endorsement for McCain, and please forgive me for doing the unthinkable and criticizing Obama, but...

I read this article a few weeks ago that said Obama being elected would be the worst thing for the national debt because a united government spends something like 25% more than a divided one. Democrat, Republican, doesn't matter, if it's united, it'll spend.

Agreed. He wants to regulate and socialize too much. If people think the social security issue is a problem now, just wait and see what happens when the Dems control everything!

Tom Brokaw = hilarious, btw. ;)

I'd like to know why GLBT rights are more thank likely "lefty" fueled. Why don't many Republicans or Right-winged canidates want civil rights for GLBT people? Does it trace back to Christian morals, or do Republicans not see them as qualified canidates for civil rights? I.E. Unions of Marriage.

I believe firmly in the seperation of church and state. I believe this not because of any anti-christian sentiments but rather because in a process of being more diplomatic and in a persuit to find a true justice we must remove the bias of religious views from our governing policies and leave law to law and religion to the people.

I agree. I really don't care who the government allows to have civil marriages. There are already people with civil marriages that could never get married in my Church (e.g. people who've been divorced), so I'm not really worried that the government could somehow force churches to marry people that don't follow their teachings.

I hate hate hate the two party system. There are no real reasons for why one party believes in one thing or another; it's a completely arbitrary and stupid system that makes me completely unable to feel comfortable with either choice.

Regardless, neither of the sides has satisfied me on GLBT rights. In the VP debate, neither of them would give a straight answer. It's so frustrating.

Hi, I just added you. I was a JV in Hays during the 2004 election, and I was undecided until a few days before the election. I eventually went with Kerry, because I felt Bush had not been honest with his reasons for going into Iraq.

I was so excited about this election because for the first time I liked both candidates, but they've both disappointed me in the last few months. I grew up conservative, but now would say I'm a moderate. My first year in JVC I stayed undercover, but the second year I decided I was just going to be me and take the consequences, and I found out that there were more JVs out there who were like me.

It's so interesting that all of the FJVs I've met in Seattle are so gung ho on Obama. Maybe it's the type of JV that stays here? At least one of my other housemates is undecided, but we do tend to feel bombarded when the politics discussion comes up.

Yay for Hays! I met the JVs who are there this year, and they are all super-cool. I'm in Cherry Abbey, so I'm not sure if well see them again.

Anyway, I've added you back. :)
