For fabric, I almost always am buying 100% cotton twill, which is only $3-5 a yard. Wigs I buy from actual wig stores in the city, which are cheaper than online. Shoes I'll try and buy stuff from goodwill if possible, or even use an old pair of shoes that I don't wear anymore and cover them. I feel awful about myself if I end up spending more than $50 on a pair of shoes/boots. Same thing with wigs.

I think maybe you're just choosing costumes that have crazy amounts of very specific detail! =P Which is fine of course, but can definitely rack up the price.

Ugh I feel you on spending a lot for shoes. I usually check goodwill for them too, but I highly doubt I would have found anything suitable for Ashlotte so I just shelled out the $40 for a pair that works. They're super cute so I don't feel too bad, but it's still an expense that would have been nice to cut back on. For fabric, the red tag bin is a great place to look. The selection usually isn't that great, but sometime you get lucky. Otherwise, coupons are my friend. :3

I bargained on ebay for a pair and got them for $40 so I got lucky there. The shoes I already have have heels that are way too high to walk in all day long especially at cons like Otakon >_<

The fabrics that I got this time were all 30% off ^_^ but this outfit has a lot of trim and stuff -_- so trims and ribbons is what bumped the price up for me >_< some of them are like $6.99 a yard and I needed at least 1 1/2 yards of it >_< The rest of the fabric and stuff though I just got extra of since it was like $2.99 a yard with that 30% off on top of it XD I think I did pretty good with the fabric and stuff this time around but it's the wig and stuff that did bump up the price a ridiculous amount.

But anyway thanks Lauren for looking for that vinyl for me.

I'll just guess and say you're gonna be Nurse Angel Ririka. Someone from the olden days, back when I actually watched anime (haha). If it's anyone from after 2001, there's a slim chance I'll know who it is. ^_^;; I still know the costume will turn out great, and that I'll appreciate it either way. Can't wait to see ya!
