Anime Central 2009 Post-Con
So here's my report for ACen 2009. Might be a bit random and out of order but that's how it usually goes when you try to fit 5 days into a little report.
Thursday started out for me at 2am. I wasn't finished with my Celica cosplay yet so I got up and worked on that until 5:45am. Allowed myself pretty much just 15 minutes to pack. While packing I got a text from Arnell saying to come 30 minutes later which was a plus since I was just throwing stuff in my luggage. Fast forward to us arriving at the hotel. We pretty much just checked-in and went up to the room without people knowing. Got settled and finally started calling people, and I was still finishing up the costume in the hotel. Really didn't do to much on Thursday. Everyone was either resting, off somewhere for supplies, or just not there yet. Had lunch with a big group of people and then everyone scattered. Hung out with Eli for quite a bit. Everyone was pretty much starting their weekend off already but I definitely wanted to get some rest before Friday hit so I went to bed while everyone else was out till like 1am.
Friday... I woke up first (not a surprise) and started getting ready. I since I was still working on Celica up to then, I really didn't have much time to just try on the costume and be in it for a while to work out any kinks. Surely though I ran into some problems. Most of the problems were fixed with just Fabric-Tac and some safety pins. The biggest problem was the skirt itself. I lost a bit of weight so the skirt actually sat lower than it should have which resulted in some of the pieces getting covered up. So I pinned it way high... but then when I threw the shirt over it, it made me look darn big around the waist @_@ ugh... well, it's better than nothing. I'll have to fix things for the next con. We didn't get out there until around 11-ish or so. Hit up the dealers room with Katie and Adam and bought a huge Godzilla plush that everyone just fell in love with. I really don't remember doing much of anything on Friday except walking around and hanging out with people. Friday was Hardcore Synergy. We didn't make it over until a bit after 11pm. By then, everything was already in full swing. Katie, Rich, and I ended up sitting in the back of the room chatting and checking out the music. I really know what the heck was going on since it was so darn loud but I did get to enjoy a bit of redalice. I know Rich wanted to hear DJ Shimamura so hopefully that happened. Amanda, Katie, and I headed back to the hotel room and just chilled for a bit before we all turned in for the night.
Saturday... There was a Prince of Tennis fanpanel at 1:30 that day, the same time as the bemanistyle panel. I usually don't miss the bemanistyle one just because I'm usually guaranteed some good laughs out of it. Anyway I attended the tenipuri panel which was just a tad weak I thought. Just a bunch of slides that the crowd was made to read. Nothing was really discussed. The karaoke part and Inui's Juices was probably the highlights. Afterwards there was a photoshoot and attended that. In the end, I probably would've picked the bemanistyle panel over the tenipuri one if I knew what was up. The rest of Saturday was spent just hanging out with people again. This year didn't have much for me as far as panel entertainment goes so I got to see everyone a whole lot more. Didn't go to the fansubbing panel, just hang out with people. Had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and then jetted off to the R5 Central Toku Hell panel. Right after that I pretty much went back up to the room to change and all for the Soap Bubble. The rest of the night was pretty drama-filled. Things surely didn't go right and it got quite a bit of people pissed off. People ended up just chatting in the room and then going to bed. Really... it wasn't a very fun night for the usual group. Half of the people got to party while the other half could only stand outside. We still ended up going to bed extremely late.
Sunday was pack-up day for most people. Arnell and I decided to stay an extra day so it was awesome not having to pack. Went down to the dealers room with Amanda since she didn't get to see it much. Met up with Katie and Adam. Then ended up meeting with everyone else and off to Mitsuwa for our usual post-con trip. I didn't buy any magazines or anything this time around. However I scored myself a Shinkenger wind toy and bought some of those toy candy boxes with henshin belts (got one of Blade and Ryuki but skipped Faiz and Kuuga's). I took a picture of a Gashapon machine since it was suppose to have Kamen Rider toys... but it was out _o_ Afterwards, we all ended up meeting outside as usual for the group photo. I really wish we could get EVERYONE in but half of the group is still at the con or has already left _o_ there's so many of us too that it's pretty impossible. Well I ended up having way too much fun with my Shinkenger wind toy and there's video and pictures to prove it _o_ Ended up going back to the hotel room to chill and then to Giordano's for dinner. Then the guys jetted off to hang out with people. I was about to pass out so I stayed in the room. They didn't stay out late anyway XD
Monday... I swear I annoyed the crap out of the housekeeper since we were in there forever and she wanted to clean. Got all packed and stuff. Was gonna put stuff in Vinh's car and ended up running into Minh and Nick in the parking lot and then joined by Chris and Eddie. BSed around for a good hour or so and then met up with people at SuperDawg. After that, it was off to the airport. Our flight got delayed so Pernell pretty much kept us company the whole time since his flight was with the same airline and about an hour after our flight. Didn't get back home to the apartment until around 11:30pm. Got online for a bit and then totally crashed. It's not just shy of 11am and I so do not look forward to going in to work today. I need at least another day just to get back into the groove of things here.
