If we go to war, I have a feeling that the majority of America will be disinvolved. They'll just be like "Yeah, yeah...bomb Iraq!" without even really being touched by the war. I mean besides the floungering economy and the fear and the bigotry, in what way have we been REALLY been touched by this upcoming war? Nada. We're not being asked to sacrifice anything, to go on rations or the like...and there's not gonna be a draft. Besides the friends and family of those in the military, which make up a small percentage of the population, we're not giving up our boys or anything. It's not Vietnam of WWII/WWI or the like. A lot of the young generation couldn't give a crap about the war, since there won't be a draft.

People are being selfish. So selfish.

There's probably a lot more people who genuinely care about the war than we think though. If people didn't really care, we wouldn't see half the protests that we see on the news today. There are those closeminded hicks though that really don't give a shit about anything though. I think that's partly why part of me hopes that this will escalate into something major, society needs something that will shock and move them. It's just really sad that it takes a catastrophe to make us realize how short life is and how important it is to stick together. Look at 9/11, and look at us now. Back to "normal".

True, true. I have a lot of things floating through my mind right now as a response, but I can't sort it through becuase I'm not educated enough on this topic to actually make an educated opinion.

All I know is that if it DOES turn into something major and someone has to die among my family and friends in this upcoming situation, I hope it's not me and not somebody else, because I'd rather be gone than watch them leave me.
