After going through a few bottles of sake with Sai, Gaara had left him by the picnic table to find something to eat.  He knew his own limits when it came to alcohol, but he had misjudged the quality of Konoha sake and was more impaired than he had expected or wanted to be.  It became apparent when it had dawned on him that the festival lights were ( Read more... )

She made a soft sound in the back of her throat, her eyes closing to fully enjoy the pleasant sensation that was filling her better than the Suna palmwine had. This was comfortable, feeling his warmth through their clothes, her arms wrapped around him as she snuggled closer. Logic would've told her that what she was doing was effectively sticking her head in a lion's mouth. Yes, the lion hadn't attacked anyone in years, but that didn't mean it wouldn't tear her to pieces if she let it.

Sakura thought that logic could shove it, and busied herself with nuzzling the exposed skin of the Kazekage's throat as she hugged him close.

Gaara had to keep reminding himself that he had stopped drinking, even though what was happening seemed completely unreal. This was so easy, almost frighteningly so, and he was starting to worry about messing things up. It didn't take much effort to hurt someone, to cause pain--at this point, he had spent almost half his life just focusing on that and he--Stop it! he told himself, almost shaking his head. He was about to start another round of self-debate when Sakura nipped at his chin. That brought him right back to where he was, what he was feeling. But he wanted her to be certain.

"Are you sure about this?" he asked, nipping back in response. It was a bittersweet feeling, being afraid and hopeful of either answer.

She pulled back to watch his face, her brows furrowed even as her hands straightened out the neckline of his robes. "Gaara, do you really think I would've dragged you back here if I wasn't? I'm a big girl now and I'm not the one that was drinking earlier."

She offered him a lopsided smile. "Besides, do you know how long I've been considering this?"

What answer do you give for rhetorical questions, Gaara wondered. Because her first question seemed rhetorical and it turned out to be true when she gave a very good argument about her own position. He could have continued, trying to analyze and break down what was happening at this very moment, but he really couldn't stop the sense of euphoria and want that rushed through him and made him think The hell with it. He took a hold of her hands as she brushed his robes. "You get no argument from me about you. And you probably haven't been thinking about this as much as I have." With that, he brought her hands to his neck and bent down for a deep kiss.

Whatever would be would be. Tomorrow. So he would take what he wanted now. And that meant Sakura. He backed her towards her bedroom, hands skimming her body, all too aware that she was not drunk or tired or distracted. Well, distracted by something other than him.
