Ramen for two

Time: late afternoon, ending of the "workday"
Recap: Shizune drops in for some take-out on her way home, only to run into the fox-boy she's been worried about.

The Genin's grin grew a little more while he finished up his first bowl and then started on his second. Strangely enough, he had only ordered two bowls! That had taken Ichiraku by surprise once he'd heard it before, which was why Ayame was the only one at the counter.

"The mission wasn't that horrible, Shizune-neechan! Hinata-chan and I just went down to one of the smaller villages that wasn't too far away from Konoha and had us take care of some thugs who tried to claim the village. As for what went down...let's just say that those guys won't be trying to mess with anyone anytime soon!"

Naruto laughed lightly but started choking mid-swallow, not realizing that he'd just popped some ramen inside his mouth!

She rolls her eyes a bit at his description of his mission, making a note to scan through the reports in the morning to find out exactly "what went down." At Naruto's choking noises, she instinctively reaches out to whack him on the back, "You're supposed to eat the ramen, Naruto-kun, not inhale it."

She waits for him to settle back down before taking a bite of her own meal, watching him to see if her worries have any ground.

The Genin coughed while managing to swallow the ramen that had gotten stuck in his throat, quickly gulping down some water that Ayame had 'accidentally' left there seconds ago. It didn't take Naruto's smile too long to vanish and a look of concern to appear in his ice-blue eyes.

"Shizune-neechan, will anyone love me as long as I have...him inside me?"

Shizune coughs a little in surprise, forcing herself to swallow her mouthful of ramen before she can answer his sudden question. Was that what had had him worried? Or was there more to it?

"Naruto-kun..." she paused for a second, trying to figure out how to respond so that he would know that she spoke honestly, "I think that you have the same chances for love as anyone else. And if they do, they'll love you for you, despite...your passenger. You are not him."
