Kidoumaru wasn't the type of person to come running when someone called him... unless it was Zaku and he was running after him... but when he got a text message from Neji, he eagerly jumped to his feet and made himself look presentable, then headed out the door. He looked down to his watch, trying to keep himself on time and not wanting to disappoint his friend, but he had forgotten to consider how long it would take for him to get over to the park Neji wanted to meet him at. He walked fast, mp3 player plugged in to a fast paced song to help him keep his speed up, following the tempo of the song.

He neared the park, pulling out his headphones to be sure he gave Neji his full attention, shoving the electronic device down into his pants pocket. He looked down to his clock. One minute late already. Well, crap.

He looked around when he got there, smiling to himself as he saw Neji sitting there on the bench. Now, Kidou. Neji called you because he's upset. Don't screw things up.So Kidou tried to play it cool, strolling up to Neji with one ( ... )

Neji was able to produce a small smile as Kidoumaru approached. He shook his head. "No- I should've allowed more time to come here. I apologize for rushing you."

Kidoumaru sat down, and Neji pondered his next words. "If everything was alright, I probably would not have called you." Neji reminded him. He sighed and leaned back, trying to relax his coiled body. He was pretty high-strung and would jump at about anything. A good bout of training would solve that, but like Lee, he tended to get into a self-destructive regimen when stress or upset.

Lee... The thought of his best friend nearly made him choke. He was doing nothing right. What was he supposed to be doing? He was hurting Lee. Why was that happening again? He was pretty sure he'd been trying not to. How can I not expect there to be distance when my feelings for him are inappropriate...? Neji's brow furrowed as he thought through everything- trying to figure out what he did wrong and how to fix it. The only solution he came up with was to talk to Lee directly, but...he wasn' ( ... )

Kidou shrugged off his comment about giving him more time. Of course, Neji didn't know how fast Kidou had gone to get here even remotely close to the time he alloted. And to the comment about being summoned because things weren't going well, he could only smile and nod his head in agreement. I knew that, Neji. Thanks for pointing out that I'm not worth your time any other time. But instead of getting upset with that train of thought, Kidou only smiled more.

Kidou sat there for a moment, watching the emotions play out on Neji's face, until Neji had finally spoke out what he was thinking. Kidou was taken aback, although he had already know that Neji had been in love with Lee, and then slumped forward and sighed, "No, I don't suppose that would make him leap into your arms." Little did Neji know, much to the disappointment of his advisor, that Kidou had a lot of experience over the years with unrequited love and affection. It was so commonplace that it was almost a game now, which is why Kidou kept in his good mood, despite the ( ... )

"No," Neji mumbled after recovering from the mild shock he'd endured after realizing Kidoumaru'd heard him. "I haven't." He rubbed his eyes tiredly- that was the excuse at any rate. "I can't." His breath hitched. "Lee's... he can't... he would be so upset... I can't do that to him, even if I would just like to tell him." Neji sighed and straightened.

"Even still," he continued, gazing up at the sky. "I'll still see him a lot. He is my best friend after all. I don't... I feel like he's been taken away from me." Neji sighed again, shaking his head. "It's stupid."

"That's right. You mentioned Gaara earlier in your text," Kidoumaru sat up straight and looked over to Neji with a serious tone, "You said before that you felt comforted that he at least had Gaara to watch over him. Now, I know the subject is kinda touchy for you, and if you ever need to punch him randomly I'd be glad to take care of that for you, but what happened that made you change your mind?" Kidou laughed, putting up his fists in the air when he mentioned punching Gaara. Truth be told, he didn't feel like he knew the boy well enough... but knew that he'd have a lot more people on his ass if he even tried. So, he laughed, a little nervously, to show he was kidding.

"You had a run-in with him earlier. Any progress... on anything?"
