Oh yeah, I was writing fanfics, wasn't I?

In an effort to re-inspire myself to write more Mirrored (damned ambitious project that continues to disappoint me)... I went back and read The World Translated Thus again.

Then spent two days mentally foaming at the mouth and hungering for more. Despite the fact that it took me three days to finish re-reading that. I've moved on to Orion, now. I ( Read more... )

Oh god, it's all so true! At least the ending is happy. It makes up for it. (Except now that I've re-read it, I paranoidly think that the supposed sequel will be another roller coaster...)

Ahem:

Primus Ships Cybertron/Earth, even if it's not his OTP. While he's not a fan of Resonance Remix he thinks the design for Rift is perfect for the potential 'line' to develop from the pairing. Yes, that's his wingkink talking, no you cannot kinkshame him over this. (Cute little thigh wheels to play with might be fun too... The better to run over giant spiders with.)

omfg that implication of Cybertronians just... absorbing the culture/genetics of every other alien species they come across was just... guh. Love.

Well, they're probably going transform into the plants they were working on in the fic, before taking on the humans.

Little Green Cybertronians/men.

Isn't that the one where Optimus keeps raping Starscream and it's all tangled up in overcomplicated politics, culture, and linguistics? Or am I thinking of something extremely different?

Mm, it's probably the one you're thinking of. I can't think of many others that feature everyone being raped and war like it's a piece of Latin literature with some cultural divide thrown in.

I rank it higher than The House of the Spirits, but I'm biased.

Huh.

See, I though it was horriblely pretentious, bore no resemblance to canon or common sense, and depicted a sociopathic ineffective rapist as the hero. I suppose tastes differ.

You're right, tastes differ a lot. I won't argue too much here, since I already know your opinion of it and I'm not going to try and change it, buuuut...

"Sociopathic ineffective rapist" is possibly the point I disagree with most. I suppose at first Optimus seemed sociopathic (if I squint), but later on it becomes pretty obvious that it's a metaphor for how their stale culture has ruined Cybertron (given that Prime and Cybertron are often referred to as one entity, or at least reflective of each other).

I'll give you that it was vastly divergent from canon, however.
