A Santa Ana man died, and three other people were injured when he lost control of his car, which spun into oncoming traffic, hit two other vehicles and caught fire, police said today. Arthur Anthony Estrada, 19, was driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on Collins Avenue at about 9:45 pm Monday when he lost control of his 2003 Subaru WRX coupe at the intersection of Wanda Street. His car went airborne, spun into the opposing lane and hit a Toyota Tacoma pickup. The Subaru continued onto the front lawn of a house on the north side of Collins and struck a Cadillac STS Sedan parked in the driveway. The Cadillac was pushed into a block wall. The Subaru caught fire. Bystanders pulled Estrada and his passenger from the burning car before police and fire rescue teams arrived. Estrada and the driver of the Toyota were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where Estrada was pronounced dead at about 4 am. Estrada's passenger and a passenger in the Toyota were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. The indentities and medical conditions of the injured were not released by the police.
So please, if any of you live in the area, go support my friends in A Near Fatal Fall. All proceeds will go to the Estrada family. Tickets will be sold on Ticketmaster soon. Let me know if you go. It's much appreciated. Arthur was a good man and had a lot going for him. He is missed for sure.
