There are things I miss about Spain, and I have very clear why I love it. It was this way when I left NYC, too. I adored NYC. Right up until I left it, I couldn't imagine leaving it...and then I lived somewhere else and discovered (rediscovered) that my home is the people, not the place.
Man, it's weird to be back in the apartment with no cats here.

I'll just bet it feels weird without the cats and without Manuel. :(
And yes, home really is about people, isn't it? Though I've lived in places I really hated and even the people couldn't take the edge off my dislike. e.g. I am SO happy I got away from my home town. I hate the place (my brother wants to disown me because he loves it). Maybe it's because I had a lot of bad stuff happen to me there but still, to this day I can't imagine living there even with people I love.
Anyway, get some rest and I'm glad you're back (selfishly glad, maybe). That 9 hour time zone shit with AZ throw me for a loop. ;)

I still think you'll miss Spain once you've been here for a while...or at least you'll remember why you liked/loved at least parts of it.
But yeah...leaving loved one sucks no matter where you leave from and where you're headed.
