Congrats on the introductions!
I walked in on my first day and completely out of character, introduced myself to everyone in my group, I NEVER do things like that, but as they'd never met me before they had no idea, I now feel really confident in class because everyone knows me by name and my confidence seems to instil some in them.

Oh God, doing something like that would have given me a coronary. Going to my lectures was really weird as it seemd that everybody knew each other already. And there were over 300 people in one lecture theatre. Needless to say, I was totally overwhelmed and stuck with the one person I'd met on the way to the building.
