OMG, AP English nostalgia! This is a very suave poem. I forget how we interpreted this in class but looking at it now I don't think it's a good lesson. Unless you tack on "Don't forget killing is bad" but the "... glad I see" doesn't suggest that he intended that to be the take home message. I always did love the flow of his poems though. Thanks for sharing Kookers!

Well certainly didn't mean go out and kill your enemies or anything like that. :D I think more along the lines of 'revenge is a dish best served cold' kinda meaning. But thanks! Yeah I'm picky about my poetry but this one did hit me. :)

I like this one a lot too but the message I got was "It's better to be open and honest with someone than it is to brood."

The author may seem happy that he got "revenge" but I wonder if, by the time he did, he even remembers why he was upset at his "foe" in the first place. After all his thoughts were clouded with "fears", which to me means he was making assumptions (does it ever feel like people you don't like are talking about you behind your back or just making stupid decisions?) and that is precisely why his wrath grew.

Come to think of it, looking at how the first four lines are written, you could easily say that his peers are neither friend nor foe until AFTER his decision to "tell my wrath" or not. That is, this person was not an enemy of his, and would not have become one, except for the fact that he wasn't honest and open with him in the first place.

I actually thought that at first too or at least thought the poem was going in that direction and it was going to end with him being upset at himself for his anger. Though when he was pleased about it and didn't show any sign of regret, I thought was more the 'revenge' message. Hehe. To me though he differentiated between friend and foe before describing his anger, though eh, either way could be right, that's what's great about poetry. :D

wow! I love hearing when other furs are actually versed in more than just video games and comic books! I was never into Blake as much as an English major probably should have been but still was never a bad one to read. cheers!

Cool, thanks! Yeah I'm the anti-furry. ;) Not a gamer, not techy, not into comics, etc. Do love the artwork though! Though yeah never really read Blake much before. Was more into the usual Frost, Poe, Cummings, Byron, etc. Don't read much these days though. :(

I play games sometimes but they're like the old PS1 or PS2 games usually but I get in like an hour a month if I'm lucky. :D Yeah art, to me, will always be the core of the fandom.

How could it have been misunderstood? All I think you said was "I like that." or something. ;)
