I've actually had a lot of good come out of networking and personals sites. About half of the people I've met there have stayed friends, and the other half generally parted without incident (i.e., went out a time or two, decided it didn't work, and then mutually left it alone).

That said, there is a big element of ego stroking involved. People will say things through these sites they wouldn't otherwise.

Also, I will go ahead and admit it. I have a Manhunt profile. But I've never actually used it to pick up anybody. I just posted pictures of all my naughty bits, and log on every so often if I need an ego boost. I know, it's terrible. :)

Thanks for the input babe.
And of course ego stroking is generally a good and healthy way to boost self-esteem...but the root of this little entry, is that it seems to bring more problem in a supposed monogamous relationship than help.
Ok if you're single, questionable if you're not!
