Fun fact learned of the day: the federal government now regulates the sale of cough syrup; you have to be over 18 to buy it(?). Not clear on that, maybe you just need an ID (though I think there would have a similar effect. Apparenly, it contains "pseudoephedrins" which can be converted into methamphetamine (sp?) aka "meth". Yet another example of the war on drugs not only being expensive and ineffective, but also actively harmful to uninivolved people. If anyone actually expects this move to have any effect on the production of Meth, they're delusional. The only effect can possibly have is to move the production up the chain of sophistication. You'll stop some random junkie from making it, but where there's a market demand, the more organized drug cartels will be happy to provide.

Bottom line: public inconvienienced in order for the government to funnel more drug money into the hands of the truly harmful people involved in the drug trade. Hooray.

A coworker recently went into Stop and Shop in Waterford to buy Tylonol Cold and Sinus (now discontinued) and she was not only carded, but the cashier took down her driver's license number and social security number, with the backing of her supervisor.

I question the legality of this.

cough syrup doesnt suprise me, for a while now you're not allowed to buy more than 2 boxes of pseudoephedrins or their related brand name products. That still doesn't keep you from going to the CVS 3 miles away and buying 2 more boxes. It just makes making drugs more of a hassel. Besides the amount of pills required to make Meth is in the thousands. I don't think you'd be able to buy the pharmacies suppply of Sudaphed and not attract suspiscion.

In other news, grats on the bed...use it well.
