i fully support this mentality because it is also my personal motivation behind the pursuit of knowledge.
an education is wasted on those who do not realise that their own opportunities are built on someone else's deprivation and that it is a duty to give back somehow, in our own way.

"Moral sluts and bastards" - a very interesting phrase you used here. One would equate slut with looseness, while a bastard is an illegitimate child. Loose morals and the lack of moral governance/tutelage?

I think our immediate perception of our world has always been small, but the lure of money, freewheeling capitalism (and accompanying advertising) and increasingly imposed structures (of all sorts; financial, educational, industrial etc.) have circumscribed our lives to only the material. And those in power don't want us to think we as commonfolk can effect change. But however difficult, we can't stop trying.
