Defeated by a cold

The Chinook Half-Ironman was a no-go. I got up feeling pretty okay, so I decided to go and give it a try. We got there a little later than I usually like to arrive before races because...I'm always late. I had just enough time to set up my bike and transition area, get my numbers marked on me, go to the bathroom, and get into my wetsuit. At ( Read more... )

I'm not feeling too good now, at 3:45am, not sleeping due to coughing and not being able to breathe. But actually I'm glad. This just confirms that I 100% made the right decision. You made the right choice even if it was the hard one. My sister Jody used to complain about her trainers not allowing her to run if she was sick, but it's the safe thing to do. You'll heal much faster if you give your body the time to recoup.

So let's hope this proves true and that you fell better soon.

Yeah, it can be tough missing important training days due to illness, but a race for which you've trained for months? Too cruel!

But as Ryan says, that's just the nature of the sport.

Well, I haven't been very disciplined at all for the last month or so, which was why I kind of just wanted this season to be over. But I don't want it to end on such a low note either. What to do, what to do?
