What kind of gnocchi did you use? You might have had to boil it because it's not parcooked like the ones we had. We fried some garlic with bits of bacon until it was a little bit crispy, then added zucchini and mushrooms. The sauce consists of ~1.5 tbsp tomato paste, with a large dollop of cream (maybe 5 tbsp?), with a bit of water to help the gnocchi to heat through. (Also, salt to taste.)
If you had to boil the gnocchi separately (most supermarket gnocchis are raw. Just follow packet instructions to see how long they have to be boiled. Or you just add them to tap water, and wait til it boils. Gnocchi will float up when cooked. I like to wait and additional 20 seconds before scooping the floating ones out.) Then you add the gnocchi to sauce, add some of the water from the gnocchi, instead of adding it to sauce beforehand.
Also, for separately cooked gnocchi, add the tomato paste and cream after adding gnocchi+ a couple tbsp gnocchi water.
Now it sounds more complicated that it really is...
