Yay, I'm on maternity leave!!! I wasn't expecting to finish work so early on, but it turns out that when I started my job my health insurance changed from private (my last job) to national because my new job doesn't offer me private insurance. Apparently for people on national health insurance they don't get the 6 weeks before/8 weeks after monies

I was exposed to a bit more about Japanese culture through my last job for a Native dance theatre company.

So my Artistic Director would choreograph and produce hour long dance theatre pieces and tour them internationally.

Do you ever anything about the Ainu indigenous peoples of Japan? I think they're more located on the northern island. Anyway my AD Santee, being indigenous to North America, collaborated with the Ainu people of Japan and created an hour long dance piece that premiered in Yokohama a couple years back.

The North American premiere finally took place last month and the Japanese influence was amazing! It's called Susuriwka - Willow bridge.

I just googled that and watched a youtube video that shows some of the dance. It looks amazing! I actually have never heard of the Ainu... I'm really lacking in Japanese culture though.
