ATM Card Scam Alert!

I just got a phone call to my cell phone, (which no banks know) and an electronic voice told me my (bank's name) ATM card was disabled, "please press 1". I hung up, called the # on the back of my ATM card, and they said they are aware of this scam and I did the right thing, they know all the info, incl. phone number of the scam, and my ATM card is ( Read more... )

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the recent massive data breaches are enabling more sophisticated forms of social engineering...

while you're at it, if you get any calls from "877 499 3869", ignore them. This is asshole DAVID HANSON who runs all sorts of bogus collection scams. I've gotten 2 fucking
cell phone calls from this guys piece of shit autodialer in the last couple of days.

Your bank should never need to call you to get your card number, they already know it!

Indeed, they should tell the last 4 digits of the card so you know which card they're talking about.

This robo-call has gotten to be such a problem that the Waltham police did a reverse-911 warning people about it.

wow, and I thought Medford did a lot of non-emergency reverse-911 calling. But a warning about a credit card scam? that is just too much!
